House Music the Deeply Emerging Genre

Updated: Dec 6, 2021

A city where the common commuter frequently passes historical artifacts simply on his daily drive to work. A city where the heavy funk-percussion based genre known as go-go truly originated. A city most known for daily dictating decisions that significantly impact the world and its wellbeing. A city with a shockingly talented World Championship baseball franchise. This city, is Washington, DC, and it's diversifying its pallet to the pulsating computer generated bass and analog derived synth beats known as house music. What used to be notorious for hip-hop and Urban culture is now emerging with the imminent ”house” takeover fueled by upbeat millennials and "Casa Migos" tequila. The monotonous workaholic never changing robotic culture of DC is self medicating with a weekly prescription of house music paired with DC nightlife. The throbbing bass that you can feel from the venue owners exclusively imported sound system is truly a “high”. A “high” chased by club and venue owners alike who will fly well known house producers and DJ's across the country for a single performance. This is the market and it's not going anywhere. Though, the consensus of peoples opinion on house music seems to be a love it or hate it vibe. Depending on the sector of DC you hang out at, it may not be as prevalent as you think despite the popular venues dedicated solely to it's cause. A venue, which recently transferred ownership throughout the course of Covid, formerly known as the 18th street lounge; has incorporated and entire rooftop dedicated solely to the art of house . Rumored to of spent upwards of 1 million bones on its exclusive DAS powered ground shaking sound system, the recently reopened 18th street lounge known now as "Twelve after Twelve" is most definitely, the move. With live music played nightly, a hip hop dedicated floor, and sophisticated classy decor incorporated throughout the entire venue the vibes are truly immaculate. In conclusion, the evolution of House music in Washington is growing with the masses, especially with hip owners incorporating these vibes into their concepts.
